Options Program

Students may enroll any time of the year, though beginning at the start of school is encouraged if possible.

Complete the K-12 online pre-registration form 

Be prepared to provide copies of the following items:

• Student’s birth certificate or other verification of identity (other valid forms of ID: Government-issued ID or passport, other official documents)
• Student’s immunization record
• Copy of transcripts (unofficial is acceptable for scheduling purposes)
• Parent identification (driver’s license, state ID, etc.)

There have been some changes to Colorado's rules regarding part-time public school programs for homeschool students. Because Options is a part-time public school program, these changes affect all Options families.

What do Options families need to know?

1. Every Options student must have a current Notice of Intent to Homeschool (NOI) on file. In order to participate in Options, each student must have an annual Notice of Intent to Homeschool submitted to a Colorado school district.

2. Families may use any district's Notice of Intent form.
You may submit your own Notice of Intent to any Colorado school district, or you may use the Estes Park School District's Notice of Intent to Homeschool form. If you submit your Notice of Intent to another school district, you will need to provide a copy to Estes Park School District when enrolling your student in Options.

3. A student participating in Options cannot be enrolled full-time in a private, independent, or parochial school. A student may still receive supplemental instruction or services from a private provider while being homeschooled, as long as the parent remains responsible for providing the required home-based education. 

Why is this required?

Under Colorado law, families who choose to homeschool must provide annual written notification to a Colorado school district. The Notice of Intent identifies each child participating in the homeschool program and confirms that the family is providing a home-based educational program.

Under the new requirements, public school districts operating part-time programs for homeschool students must verify that a student is participating in a homeschool program by obtaining a copy of the student's most recent Notice of Intent to Homeschool before enrollment.

Estes Park School District is therefore required to collect and maintain a copy of the Notice of Intent for every student participating in Options.

A few important reminders

• The Notice of Intent is submitted to a Colorado school district — not to CDE.
• A new Notice of Intent must be submitted each year.
• The Notice of Intent must include the student's name, age, place of residence, and number of attendance hours.
• Colorado homeschool law requires at least 172 days of instruction, averaging four instructional contact hours per day.
• Families may choose their own homeschool curriculum.
