Options Program
The Estes Park Options Program is an enrichment program for homeschooled students in grades K-8.
The Options Program is offered by the Estes Park School District to homeschool families who reside in the district. To be eligible for Options, students must be in Kindergarten through 8th grade and must be enrolled in Estes Park School District. If a student is enrolled in another public school district (this includes online public schools), they cannot enroll in Options.
Classes are held at the YMCA of the Rockies on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Options will begin the Thursday following Labor day and will follow the Estes Park School District calendar for holiday breaks/spring break. Thanks to the beautiful setting at the YMCA, the program takes advantage of learning opportunities outdoors. Parents are the primary instructional provider, with the school supplementing their efforts. The school will never dictate what is taught at home. EPSD respects and supports the homeschooling family. Home schooled students are welcome and encouraged to participate in extracurricular sports, clubs, and activities that Estes Park Schools offer.
Goals
To provide students with a wide variety of enrichment lessons and activities that they may not receive through their homeschool program.
To provide opportunities for students to learn and display ROARS characteristics. (Responsible, Ownership, Attentive, Respectful, Safe)
To incorporate our Global Outcomes into the curriculum and instruction. (Perseverance, Communication, Collaboration, Compassion and Global Awareness, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Creativity, Physical - Social - Emotional Wellness
To provide students the opportunity to learn time management and accountability skills.
To provide a hands-on learning environment.
To give students the opportunity to experience different teaching styles.
To give students the opportunity to experience participation in a group setting while enjoying old and new friendships with other students.
Registration
Students may enroll any time of the year, though beginning at the start of school is encouraged if possible.
Complete the K-12 online pre-registration form
Be prepared to provide copies of the following items:
- Student’s birth certificate or other verification of identity (other valid forms of ID: Government-issued ID or passport, other official documents)
- Student’s immunization record
- Copy of transcripts (unofficial is acceptable for scheduling purposes)
- Parent identification (driver’s license, state ID, etc.)
Attendance
To get the most from the program, we encourage 100% attendance unless your student is ill. If you anticipate an absence, please communicate it with the Options Coordinator.
