Friends of Rachel Pie Sale to benefit Bright Christmas

Friends of Rachel is touching off a chain reaction at the middle school! After our kickoff activity of marching in the Estes Park Homecoming Parade,

distributing information about Rachel's Challenge and passing out bracelets that read "Together We Make One World", the group is now focused

on the FREERICE Pile-Up. By going to freerice.com, students (and their families and friends) are learning, working to end world hunger and having

fun--all at the same time. Between now and Thanksgiving, MS advisory teams are competing to see which group can pile up the most free rice that is

immediately donated to starving people around the world. In our first week, we've already accumulated 473,190 grains of rice to help hungry people.

Ms. Ebel's Benchwarmers are currently in the lead!

We've been honoring examples of Rachel's Challenge behaviors (Eliminate Prejudice by Looking for the Best in Others, Dare to Dream--Set a Goal,

Keep a Journal, Choose Your Influences--Input Determines Output, Kind Words-Small Acts of Kindness=HUGE Impact, Start a Chain Reaction) with

paper chain links explaining the act and noting the student's name. Our goal is to have 5 miles of chain by the end of the year!

Friends of Rachel has also initiated the Bobcat of the Month awards for students who exemplify Rachel's Challenges in our school. In September,

Sarah Kozlowski, Chris Moody, Forrest Beesley, Jessica Goff, Jonathan Gutierrez and Dusty Draper were honored. We are in the process of choosing

Bobcats of the Month for October.

Finally, Friends of Rachel will be selling pies as a holiday fundraiser. More information will be coming soon!
