School Cancellation or Early Dismissal
Information relative to buses not operating, early closing, or delayed start of school is aired on radio stations 1470 AM KEPL, 1410 AM KCOL, and 850 AM KOA as well as Denver television channels 4, 7 and 9.
If the school buses are unable to operate safely, school will be canceled. Park School District R-3 will notify KEPL and KOA in time for their 6:00 a.m. transmission. The stations repeat closing information periodically.
Delayed school starts due to inclement weather or other emergencies may occur at times. If this becomes necessary, radio stations will be informed. A delayed start means that school will begin 1 ½ hours late (9:20 a.m.). All classes will meet on a shortened time schedule.
In case of early dismissal students will have an opportunity to contact a parent/guardian to inform them of the early closure. We ask parents/guardians not to call the schools to prevent jamming of telephone lines. Please make sure the schools have an updated emergency contact card for each student which includes instructions on what they should do in case of early dismissal.
Weather and school closure and delayed start information is also available by calling the district weather line at 586-7401. The weather line is updated each day after 6:00 a.m.
