Hola Padres (Spanish)

Hola Parents!
My name is Kelly Usubillaga and I am the new Spanish teacher this year. It is an honor for me to be working with your children; each and every one of them is so much fun and so special.
We have been continuing with last year’s “Risas y Sonrisas” curriculum which I find to be an excellent program for introducing Spanish to children. The wonderful thing about this program is that it utilizes all aspects of the language, so your child can succeed no matter what learning style they prefer. We use songs for listening; posters, charts and smartboard for visuals; objects and games for tactile learners; and lots of fun reading and writing/spelling exercises in Spanish. From the feedback I have been receiving, I know the kids are enjoying learning this very useful new language.
So far this year we have been working on and reviewing: greetings, colors, numbers, alphabet, introduction questions and answers, body parts, vowels and consonants and cultural points including folk songs, Spanish speaking countries geography and flags, and recognition of Mexican Independence day and Latin American heritage month.
I have included a short dialogue we have worked on in class for you to practice with your children if you would like. Hopefully, they will be able to translate it for you if needed and for those families who speak Spanish fluently, you may want to use it for Spanish reading and spelling practice. For more practice sheets and specific class lesson materials, please visit the estesschools .org website.
I am looking forward to a great year with your children!
Saludos,
Kelly Cramer Usubillaga
